Agents of Shield Season 7 Changes Yo-Yo’s Super Powers With a Twist

Marvel’s Agents of Shield story arc got a few twists when season 7 aired on May 27.  Created for ABC, the season saw the team time travel to the past with Coulson’s LMD and fight the alien race of Chronicoms, who followed the agents back in time. However, season 7 showcases another problem troubling the agents. Yo-Yo’s super powers have been changed with a twist.

A Popular Theory Dates Back to Season 6
The issue is related to one of the team’s inhuman members, Yo-Yo. She has the power of running at super-speed in a heartbeat. As soon as the beat is over, she comes to the point of origin. Season 7 showcases how the popular character is unable to access her powers and that has allowed a popular theory to crop up.
The makers of this show have answered questions with season 7’s eighth episode named “After, Before”. The episode showcases Shield traveling to a colony inhabited by Inhumans, called “Afterlife”. After arriving at the colony, the team comes in contact with Jiaying, Quake’s mother, who was introduced in the initial seasons of the series. She was later killed off for betraying her own daughter by using Quake for her own selfish needs. However, season 7 shows that Jiaying is successful in fixing Yo-Yo’s problem.
“Yo-Yo’s Problem is Psychological”
As Episode 8 progresses, Jiaying states that Yo-Yo’s problem is psychological rather than physical. There goes the theory of the shrikes after effect down the drain. The last few seasons saw the character with super-speed undergo severe mental trauma when both her hands were cut off by an evil Hydra agent, Ruby. Even though Fitz was able to reconstruct her arms with cybernetic replacements, the guilt and trauma never washed off.
In season 7, Yo-Yo is subject to therapy sessions because of the Inhumans. When the sessions end, the character regains her abilities but with a new twist. Now, when she runs at super-speed, she does not come to the point of origin, bringing her close to the likes of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Quicksilver. Although Mack says that he will still call her Yo-Yo because of her abilities to bounce back from every single problem in her life.
Agents of Shield Season 7 Changes Major Event in MCU Timeline
The seventh season of ‘Agents of Shield’ has officially changed the timeline of a major event that took place in MCU’s Captain America: Winter Soldier.
The fifth episode of season 7 shows SHIELD arrive in 1973. They come across Hydra’s Project Insight, a satellite project that targets any potential threat to Earth.
However, this storyline was initially shown in the above-mentioned Captain America movie which is set in the year 2014. This shows that Hydra’s plan has moved forward 5 decades and there is no Captain America to stop them as he is still under the ice. The reason this happens is that Chronicoms have a plan to rewrite history so that they can conquer earth in the present.
Agent of Shield: A Spy Agency in A World of Superheroes
Agents of Shield is an American television series created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen. It is based on the Marvel Comics SHIELD (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division) organization, a peacekeeping spy agency in the world of superheroes. This show is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and addresses the feature films and other television series.
