Comparison: The New Nintendo Switch V2 or the Original Model?

Switch V2 is the updated version of a Nintendo Switch version, which came around in 2019. If you look for differences between the two keeping them together, they aren’t very much distinct unless you look at its model number. Not only its appearance, but they operate in a very similar manner.

What’s the point of writing an article if there’s not much of a difference between the two models? Well, if you’re a Switch freak, it is notable that the new V2 lets you play up to nine hours, which is far better than the ability to play for six to seven hours with the original.

Are you interested to know more about the differences in detail? Keep reading!

One immediate difference you spot when you open the packaging is the look of Joy-Cons and the main console. If you compare the interior of the two switches, there are minutest changes made. However, the big difference is the system-on-chip (SoC) and the NAND memory or flash storage.

A while ago, there were reports that Sharp has collaborated with Nintendo to bring up new Switch panels. Thus, if you’re curious to know what Sharp has brought you, the new Switch’s screen is brighter and warmer than the original model. It might not come to notice by a lot of people, but it is present. Another major difference is the V2’s screen is differently polarized. In simple words, it doesn’t let you play outside while wearing sunglasses.

As mentioned earlier, everybody expected Sharp to be working with Nintendo on the new Switch. However, if you notice carefully, no logo represents Sharp. Thus, the company might have collaborated for a future device and not this one, still unsure.

As far as you’re concerned about the gaming experience with the two, games take almost the same time to load and the only difference we can talk about is the gaming time. The company’s official website mentions that the original Switch can last up to 6.5 hours, while the V2 has a battery life lasting up to 9 hours. If you’re playing games like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, one of the most battery draining games, the original Switch lasts up to three hours, while the V2 can run up to 5.5 hours. Isn’t it amazing that you won’t have to worry about the Switch’s battery life any longer?

Comparing the interiors of the two Switches, the antenna has been assigned a new place in the V2, which is likely to expel the connectivity issues. Unluckily, the users have reported controller drift issues in the new Switch. Therefore, if you’re a potential buyer of a Switch but afraid to do so because of the drift issues, it is suggested to invest in Nintendo’s official Pro Controller. If not this, you can also get a third-party controller like the Tutuo Joy-Pad Wireless Controllers.

If you don’t have a Switch and are planning to buy one, you must look for a bigger console. The Switch Lite offers a range of bright colors and is appealing because of its lesser price; however, a larger Switch will be more beneficial. On the other hand, if you already have the original Nintendo Switch and want to upgrade the device because of its improved battery backup, it is advised to invest in a portable battery rather than a whole new Switch.

When the new V2 got released, not many people noticed that the packaging of the new Switch was slightly different than the original one. If you cannot figure out the same, make sure you’re purchasing the right model as the new Switch comes with a model number HAC-001 (-01). Can’t wait to get your hands on the new Switch? Then, what are you waiting for? Check the deals online and order one now.
