5 Productivity Tips to Get the Most Out of Slack

Slack is a popular communication app/software that is used by millions of people and brands for communicating important information with their employees and managing them more efficiently. But do you know there are many things that you can do to increase your productivity from Slack and get the most of it? So, today we are going to share with you six tips to increase your productivity on Slack and get the most out of it.

Use it in your web browser

The first thing that you can do to increase your productivity on Slack is to use it on your web browser instead of a desktop app and mobile app. Why? Because the human mind can be easily distracted by simple and small things. So, if you are someone who gets lots of pings or notifications on Slack, then you might not be able to stop yourself from constantly checking the app, which will ultimately reduce your productivity. Therefore, make sure that you don’t use Slack desktop or mobile app and use it on your web browser instead.

Snooze Your Slack Notifications

If you are someone who prefers to use Slack desktop or mobile app, then you can increase your productivity by snoozing your notifications. Once you do this, you won’t get disturbed by notifications or ping messages from Slack, which will reduce distractions and will ultimately help you in increasing your productivity on Slack. To do this:

  1. Go to the Slack app and open it.
  2. Next, hit the bell symbol/icon (located in the top-left).
  3. Now you will see an option to snooze your notifications.
  4. Finally, select the duration for which you want to snooze/disable your notifications.

For mobile app:

  1. Go to the Slack app and open it.
  2. Next, open the channel for which you want to disable/snooze notifications.
  3. Now click on ellipses.
  4. Next, tap on the “Do Not Disturb” option.
  5. Finally, select the duration for which you want to snooze or disable your notifications.

Set up Keyword Notifications

By setting up keyword notifications, you can make sure that you never miss any important notification or message on Slack. Once you have set up keyword notifications for a particular word, Slack will notify you when someone uses it in their conversation in any Slack channel. To set up keyword Notifications:

  1. Go to the Slack app and open it.
  2. Next, tap on your workspace name.
  3. Now navigate to Preferences>Notification>My Keywords.
  4. Finally, enter the words for which you want to get notified by the Slack.

Set a Reminder on Slack

If you don’t have a good memory, then you can set reminders for yourself on Slack using the Slackbot. Using this feature of the Slack, you can ensure that you never forget to do the things that you have to do before going offline. To do this:

  1. Go to the Slack app and open it.
  2. Next, go to direct messages and click on Slackbot.
  3. Now, set up your reminder by using the following syntax: /remind [me / @someone / #channel] [what] [when]. For example, if you want to set a reminder for a birthday party of your friend John tonight, then you have to write: /remind me about John’s birthday party at 5 pm.
  4. Finally, hit enter to set up your reminder.

Bookmark Your Important Messages

Slack allows you to easily bookmark important messages, passwords, or links by using its “Star” feature. This ensures that you can easily access these important messages, passwords, or links in the future when you need them. To save your important message, simply click on the star symbol/icon near your important message. Now your message is saved by Slack in the “Starred items” section of Slack, and you can refer to this message from the “Starred items” menu (located in the top-right corner of your window).

Conclusion

These are the six best tips that you can use to increase your productivity on Slack. So do use these tips if you want to boost your productivity and get the most out of the Slack.
