Let your iPhone Scream With iOS 14

After a full day of scrolling and stalking others on social media, your iPhone screams for you to stop. The only difference is here we’re mentioning it in the literal term. Are you the goofy one in your group of friends and want to freak your friends? Make your iPhone scream with the new iOS 14 update.

Are you interested to know more about the trick? Here’s what you need to know.

Custom Scream Shortcut

Before getting deeper into the information to create a shortcut in the Shortcuts app, you’ll need to download a custom Play Scream shortcut. To get started, follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. Go to the Settings app and navigate to the ‘Shortcuts’ tab.
  2. Next, turn the slider on for ‘Allow Untrusted Shortcuts.’ You can disable the same whenever you like.
  3. Go to the iCloud link on your phone and tap on the ‘Get Shortcut’ option to download the custom scream.
  4. Finally, you’ll be headed to the Shortcuts app with the ‘Add Shortcut’ window, enabling you to evaluate the shortcut one final time.
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap ‘Add Untrusted Shortcut.’

The shortcut will now be added to the list. If you want to hear how it sounds, click on the speaker icon.

Build the Automation

Now, it’s time to link the ‘Play Scream’ action with the action of your iPhone. To do the same, follow the steps:

  1. Launch the Shortcuts app.
  2. Select the ‘Automation’ tab at the bottom of the screen.
  3. If there is an existing automation present, click on the ‘+’ sign and select ‘Create Personal Automation.’
  4. If you’re creating automation for the first time, click on the ‘Create Personal Automation’ option.
  5. In the next ‘New Automation’ window, navigate and click on the ‘Charger’ option.
  6. You’ll be headed to a Charger screen. Select the option you want to trigger the screaming sound, for instance, ‘Is Connected.’
  7. Hit the ‘Next’ button.
  8. Now, define the action that’ll be taking place while your charger is connected. Click on the ‘Add Action’ option.
  9. Type ‘Run Shortcut’ in the given space on the search bar and click on the ‘Run Shortcut’ option.
  10. Now you’ll see a space that defines the shortcut. Tap ‘Shortcut.’
  11. A pop-up menu will appear. Click on the ‘Play Scream’ option.
  12. Hit the ‘Next’ button on the top of the screen.
  13. Turn the slider off for ‘Ask Before Running.’
  14. Select the ‘Don’t ask’ option in the confirmation window.
  15. Click on the ‘Done’ button, and your automation will be set.

Hide the Automation Notification

The only drawback of using this fun trick is that you receive a notification each time you trigger the automation. Also, it is not possible to disable the shortcuts notification in the settings menu. However, you can turn off the same using Screen Time.

Follow the steps mentioned below to do the same:

  1. Enable the ‘Screen Time’ option in the Settings app.
  2. Run the automation a few times to generate notifications.
  3. Wait for a while and launch the Settings app.
  4. Select the Screen Time tab and click on the ‘See All Activity’ button.
  5. Navigate to the ‘Notifications’ section and click on the ‘Shortcuts’ option.
  6. Turn the slider off for the ‘Allow Notifications’ option.
  7. Hit the ‘Back’ button and exit the Settings app.

The activity seems pretty fun, right? Though you can laugh when your friends get scared, misusing the same is not a great option.
