Users use this wrist gadget to track their fitness and rate of speed while performing workouts. Nowadays, most fitness lovers are performing their exercises at home and many of them are facing issues in their wearable device “Apple Watch.” If your Apple Watch is incorrectly recording indoor pace, then here is what you need to do.

Checking Apple Watch Location and Motion Settings

  • At the start, launch the Settings page on your iOS device.
  • Then, scroll down the page and then press the privacy option.
  • Hit the Location Services option there.
  • Now, scroll to the bottom and then hit the option “System Services.”
  • You have to ensure that the feature “Motion Distance and Calibration” is turned on.

Calibrating Apple Watch

  • First of all, you need to wear your Apple device and reach the open area where good GPS service is available.
  • In case you have Apple Watch Series 2, or above, you don’t need your iPhone but if you are using Apple Watch Series 1, then take your smartphone with you.
  • Once you get into the open and in-network area, then launch the Workout application on your device.
  • After that, choose either the Outdoor Run or Outdoor Walk option to start the workout process. Now, you need to run or walk at your usual pace for at least 20 minutes.
  • Wait for a little as Apple Watch will use this workout session for calibrating the accelerometer to understand your stride length. The GPS mechanism will help the device to learn and calculate how far you have travelled during this session.

Resetting Calibration Data

One can reset the Apple Watch if the user is not satisfied by the device setup for measuring the fitness or workout rate. Users need to start new by resetting the device. To do so, follow these offered guidelines:

  • First of all, launch the Watch app directly on your device.
  • Then, choose the section “My Watch” from the lowermost left-hand side edge of the screen.
  • Now, scroll down the page and then choose the Privacy option.
  • After that, hit the tab related to the option of resetting fitness calibration data.

The idea of checking and recording your footsteps outside the home improves the indoor exercise calculation with accuracy, it sounds something strange, but will give your device a better understanding of the kind of pace you use while walking or running at a particular time and distance. It further improves the indoor accuracy and pace tracking capability of your wearable device, and thus it helps to sort out the issue of disparity between the two data (inside the home and outside.)
