How to Broadcast Messages on Your Google Assistant Speakers and Displays

Have you heard of a modern intercom? Yes, you’re thinking it right! The broadcasting feature of Google Assistant works as an intercom via which you can broadcast a message around the house. Whether it is announcing something in your kid’s bedroom, or deliver a message when you’re away, Google Assistant does your job.

Before getting into details about Google broadcasting, you must know about its basics. You can use your smartphone or tablet to broadcast a message from the Google Assistant. Not only this, but these broadcasts can be sent to any corner of your house specifically or collectively.

Enable the Google Assistant

To begin using the Google Home or Nest speaker or display, you’ll have to launch the Google Assistant first. To do the same, say “Hey Google” to your smartphone.

To launch the Assistant on an Android device, say “Ok Google” or “Hey Google.” Else, you can also swipe from left to right corner on the newer devices.

If you’re an iPhone or iPad user, you’ll have to begin by installing the Google Assistant application via App Store on your device. Once the app is downloaded, say “Ok Google.” Else, click on the Microphone icon, and Google will start listening.

Broadcast a Message

If you want to broadcast a message to all the Google Nest or Home Devices in your house, use one of the two commands: Broadcast or Announce, followed by the message.

If you want to broadcast a message in a specific area of the house, use any of the two commands: Broadcast to (Room Name) or Broadcast to (Device Name), followed by the message.

Respond to a Broadcast

If you want to reply to a broadcast, it is as easy as sending a broadcast in the first place. Once the Google Assistant recites the previous message, say “Hey Google,” followed by any of the two commands: Reply (Message) or Send a Reply, after which Google will ask you the message.

One thing to note is that your message will be broadcasted on the original device only. For instance, if the message was sent from a phone, your reply will be forwarded to the phone only. However, if the message was sent via Google Home or Nest Speaker, your reply will be played out loud.
