The Second Trailer of Wonder Woman Sequel is Out Now!

There will be some spoilers, so read only if you have watched the first film.

Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig’s starrer promises power-packed action in this DC adventure film, the trailer of which has arrived at DC FanDome.

The ensemble cast of Wonder Woman 1984 includes Gal Gadot reprising her titular role, Patty Jenkins and Chris Pine. As the name suggests, the story is set in the 1980s, and it explores Diana’s rivalry with Kristen Wiig’s character Cheetah as well Diana’s romance with Chris Pine’ character Steve Trevor who makes a surprising return to the franchise shocking all the fans who thought he had died in the 1st film.

The trailer teased about a film that is set in 1980s America but promises to be everything that defines the term- “Different.”

The first film proved to be highly successful both in terms of the box office as well as critical recognition. The time when Justice League was released and was subsequently rejected by the audience, Wonder Woman remained the only film that could have held the dying DCEU franchise by its fingertips.

The team of Wonder Woman 1984 commenced the inaugural convention which had dropped bombshells after bombshells and was designed to be one of a kind “virtual comic con.” It was totally free for all ardent lovers of DC content. The event gave first looks, trailers, details and sneak peek on various upcoming DC products. It exhibited first looks on Matt Reaves’s The Batman, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, Snyder Cut Justice League and of course second trailer of The Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins who directed the first film as well. Gal Gadot will re-personify Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman, an immortal warrior from Amazon. She will be joined by her first film co-star Chris Pine. Robin Wright and Connie Nielson will reprise their roles.

New villains Cheetah and Max Lord will be introduced in the franchise. Cheetah will be played by Kristen Wiig and Max Lord will be played by Pedro Pascal of Narcos and Game of Thrones fame.

The team of Wonder Woman included Gal Gadot herself, the director Patty Jenkins, Chris Pine, Wiig, and Pascal. Venus Williams, who has publicly confessed that she is a Wonder Woman mega fan, sent her questions which were answered by the panels. Lynda Carter, who had played Wonder Woman before also presented her questions about the costume as well as the overall experience of the cast.

The event was available online for an entire day, i.e. for 24 hours, but the panel was repeated throughout the day.

While Patty Jenkins’s 2017 film was a massive blockbuster, she has cautioned fans not to consider Wonder Woman 1984 as a sequel. In her words, the film is “just a chapter” in Diana Prince’s story. She clearly stated that it is not like a traditional sequel.

In 2019, producer of the film Charles Roven compared the Wonder Woman franchise to the one of James Bond where each movie is a continuity of the predecessor however it pretends to be a standalone film. It satisfies the user with its current story without holding much back. In his words, each Wonder Woman film is a “completely different story that we are telling.”

The makers and fans of Wonder Woman have persisted through a lot of dates push-back. It was due to be released in December 2019 but to avoid competition with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, it had to be pushed to June 2020. Then, due to pandemic, it had to be shoved to October release.

If all goes well with Tenet which looks set to be released on August the 26th internationally and on September the 3rd in the US, we can expect Wonder Woman to be released on October the 2nd. Rumours were circulating the internet that we can expect Wonder Woman to be pushed to HBO Max streaming service but just like with Tenet, Warner Bro. have been adamant about releasing the film on theatres.

Jenkins confirmed the stance at FanDome. “We are going to stick to it. We believe in the cinema.”

Wonder Woman will release on October the 2nd. You can check the trailer on Warner Bro.’s official Youtube channel.
