The Avengers is a most popular and top-rated superhero film series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe based on Marvel comics. It is produced by Marvel Studios. The first part of this series, The Avengers, was released in 2012, followed by Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015, Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, and Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
Thanos is considered to be the most powerful supervillain in the MCU. He was first introduced in the film, Avengers: Infinity War. He has defeated most of the superheroes of the team Avengers in the film. There are six Infinity Stones in Thanos’ snap, which makes him more powerful. All of these gem-type stones have different roles designated to each one of them. The first stone, Space Stone, appeared in the film Captain America: The First Avenger. Thanos made massive efforts to collect all the stones in order to become more powerful.
Here we will discuss all the Infinity Stones and their roles in Thanos’ snap as shown in the film, Avengers: Infinity War.
Power Stone
Thanos was first seen in the film, Guardians of the Galaxy, looking for a collection of the Infinity Stones. Power Stone was responsible for bringing all the members of the cosmic team together. In the film, Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos already had Power Stone with him, and the film failed to show how he got that stone because it was handed to the Nova Corps in Xandar by the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Power Stone is a purple-colored gem, also known as the Orb. It possesses very strong energy and physical strength. We had seen its example, when Thanos used this stone for defeating Captain Marvel in the film, Avengers: Endgame. The Power Stone also can destroy half of the population in the universe.
Space Stone
Johann Schmidt was the first person in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to hold the Space Stone. He is often known as Red Skull. In the film, Avengers: Infinity War, the stone transported Red Skull to Vormir. The Space Stone was kept in the vault of Odin, the king of Asgard, and the father of Thor. The Space Stone is also known as the Tesseract.
The Space Stone is blue and can open the portals and transport it’s wielder from one place to another without any hassle. Loki used this stone to open the sky for his army to enter the earth during the war of New York. After acquiring this stone, Thanos was able to access every corner of the Galaxy.
Reality Stone
The Reality Stone is red and was handed to a collector by Thor and Lady Sif in the film, Thor: The Dark World. They decided to give the responsibility to take care of the Reality Stone to a collector, who is an outsider of Asgard. The reason for this decision was the existence of Space Stone, which was also there in Asgard. The Space Stone was already in Asgard in the vault of Odin. The Reality Stone was safe for several years, but Thanos discovered the place, and the collector was forced by Thanos to hand him the crystal.
The Reality Stone can alter reality. It has the power to change the physical form of anyone. It was used by Thanos to create illusions and intersect physical bodies.
Soul Stone
Soul Stone is a gem, which is orange in color. The fans have never seen this stone before the film, Avengers: Infinity War, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Vormir was another planet as introduced in the film, Infinity War, where the Soul Stone was first seen.
The Soul Stone can locate the living things in the universe and allows the wielder to choose any of the living beings randomly to take their lives.
Time Stone
The Time Stone is a green colored gem and the fifth Infinity Stone of Thanos’ snap. The Time Stone was first seen in the film, Doctor Strange, and also known as the Eye of Agamotto. Doctor Strange was given the responsibility to protect the Time Stone, but he had to surrender it to Thanos to save the life of Tony Stark (Iron Man) in the film, Avengers: Infinity War.
The Time Stone can make sure that all the six Infinity Stones are working correctly at once. It also allows the wielder to manipulate the time by speeding it up or slowing it down.
Mind Stone
Mind Stone is a yellow colored gemstone and the sixth Infinity Stone of Thanos’ snap. The fans have already seen the Mind Stone in Loki’s Scepter and providing power to Vision and Wanda in the Avengers series. Mind Stone can concentrate on what is going to happen. This gem was also responsible for setting up the mind of Thanos on his motive of getting all the six Infinity Stones.
