All You Need to Know About the Upcoming Google Pixel Smartphone

Google is known to launch its flagship Pixel smartphones in the fall. This year, the global pandemic brought some changes to the plan. But that doesn’t stop the rumors about the upcoming Google Pixel smartphone from doing rounds. Although there isn’t much information about the gadget yet, the rumors are enough to allow us to expect some features that we will soon get to see. Looking at the history of Google Pixels, we can guess that the upcoming phone in the series will be named as Google Pixel 5.

The new numbering of the name is probably the result of the change in the phone design. There is no confirmation on the name changing part, but the possibility is there. The chances are evident as per the reports by 9to5Google as they suggested that Google will launch Pixel 5XL later in 2021, which makes way for Google Pixel 5. Until we get any confirmation about the name, we’ll refer to the gadget as Google Pixel 5 in this article.

As far as the release date of Pixel 5 is concerned, we can expect it to launch by the mid of October this year because that’s when all of the earlier Pixel series hit the stores. But looking at the current global situation, the Pixel device might not launch this year. Even the Google Pixel 4a’s release schedule changed so often that its launch schedule couldn’t get any confirmation until now. Since October marks the beginning of the holiday season, all the gadgets have the highest chance of launching during that time. But the uncertainty is wrecking the plan. If the situation starts to balance, we might expect the launch of the latest devices by the end of this year.

Design

Again, there is no confirmation, but the history of changed designs and looks of the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, raises speculations of redesigning of the Pixel 5 handset. Last year, we noticed a few changes in the devices, such as the shape and size of the handset, removal of the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and new camera module. Looking back in time, we found some reports revealing that some of the significant creators from the Pixel team were disappointed at the functions and design of Google Pixel 4. If that was the case, then the expectations for the new design of Pixel 5 grows higher.

Some unreliable sources leaked pictures of the design of the upcoming device. But those images cannot be trusted. The photographs revealed the return of the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, which indicates the failure of Google’s Motion Sense experiment. Those images did not portray the exact device, but the creators had revealed only their imagination about the gadget.

Processor

Every Google Pixel device has had the latest Qualcomm 800-series processor and the latest Android version. We adamantly believe that Pixel 5 will come with the latest Android version, i.e., Android 11 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. However, other technological experts argue that the device will land with a mid-range processor. There is no report to support that view, but our best guess oscillates between Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, 768G, and 865. However, a mid-range processor would mean a little relaxation to your pockets.

If Google wants to target the budget-conscious consumers, then the processor will go down to either 765G or 786G. Both the processors work smoothly and are way cheaper than the Snapdragon 865 processor. Apart from all the modifications, Google might stick to the 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage space. We can expect to see the dual-lens rear camera, wireless charging, and IP68 rating. Battery capacity might exceed as Pixel 4’s battery capacity was doubtful, and users were unhappy with it. So, there is some room for improvement.

These were some of the details that have been surfacing on the internet. On the other side, people are trying to guess the price of the device. The shreds of evidence and the rumors lead us to believe that the original price of the product will cost somewhere between $600 to $700 if the device sticks to the mid-range processor. But the prices will shoot up if Google uses the latest Qualcomm processor and introduces any new development in the product.
